Activism in Adoption | Domingo, 11. Outubro 2020

In the 2020 Speaker series: Activism in Adoption, On Your Feet will harness its collective knowledge and leverage its strength to serve all members of the adoption triad in a new way. The series will also take place in lieu of the organizations' traditional annual fundraiser and education event--with all proceeds benefiting the ongoing support of birthmothers.

The series will be broken into four ninety-minute sessions, each with a theme that is not often addressed in conventional adoption education training. Activism in Adoption is an opportunity to connect all sides of the adoption triad to honor the roles of each party. With sought after speakers and insightful moderation, we will form a safe place to address topics that often get ignored despite their relevance and importance. The series will be compelling for anyone interested in navigating family relationships, talking to loved ones about sensitive topics, building and harnessing resiliency, talking to children about race, honoring all members of the adoption triad, and unpacking self-identity within the framework of adoption. Our goal in this series is to help adoptive parents learn to help their child navigate their feelings and experiences as adoptees. Attendees pursuing adoption training credit hours will be provided with documentation of the hours attended.

On Your Feet is honored to welcome Pamela Cook and Dr. Beverly Daniel Tatum as speakers and moderators for Activism in Adoption. Their expertise is unparalleled on the topics of Race, Resilience and Relationships. Additionally, a panel* representing adoptees, adoptive parents, and birthmothers will be available for further discussion. Having the triad represented, along with the guidance of a moderator and renowned speakers is a special opportunity for attendees. Whether a long time friend of On Your Feet Foundation or new to our community, all are welcomed.

Tickets will go on sale August 25, 2020 at an early bird rate of $100. Sponsorship opportunities are available.

*Attendees will have an opportunity to submit questions to our esteemed speakers and panelists as well as provided with a resource guide to prepare for the event.
