FREC3: Level 3 Certificate in First Response Emergency Care (QCF)



Course duration: 5 days
Cost: £450 per person (no VAT required)
Awarding body: Qualsafe awards
Clinical endorsement: The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh - Faculty of pre-hospital care.
Certificate validity: 3 years

Pre-requisites
Learners must be 17 years old with a good level of numeracy and literacy skills. Having existing basic first aid knowledge is also recommended (e.g. previous attendance on a First Aid at Work, Emergency First Aid at Work or Paediatric First Aid course).
Refresher Training
In line with Resuscitation Council (UK) guidance, it is strongly recommended that first responders undertake annual refresher training that includes Basic Life Support and Automated External Defibrillation.
Further study and progression
Want a career in pre-hospital medicine?
This qualification may be used towards achieving other pre-hospital care qualifications, including the Level 4 Certificate in First Response Emergency Care (QCF). Level 5 is equivalent to an Ambulance technician and successful level 6 candidates can apply for UK Paramedic registration.
Assessment
There 13 practical tests, 3 theory multiply choice assessments and
4 skills tests with continuous formative assessment conducted throughout the course.

SIA Approved
The award is recognised as suitable for SIA licence and most security sector employers have now recommended this as a replacement for the FPOS award.
Course breakdown
Classroom contact hours: 35 hrs
Self directed hours: 118hrs
The first day starts at 10am to help candidates travelling long distances.

The Level 3 Certificate in First Response Emergency Care (FREC®) is accepted as covering all learning outcomes and assessment criteria contained within the Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work qualification. As such this qualification exceeds the HSE’s standard requirements for those acting as a workplace first aider and also covers a number of additional training needs that are often identified in ‘higher risk’ working environments.

It is very close to Smethwick Galton Bridge train station and main bus routes.
The entrance to the car park is off Malin Street.
The training room is at the furthest part of the car park.
Car parking is free and secure. (CCTV)
Tea/Coffee/biscuits are provided on the course. You need to provide your own lunch or buy it locally.
